MONSTER-MANIA CON FAQ
(FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS)

Please feel free to review these Frequently Asked Questions.  While we certainly
have no problem answering emails, many of your questions may be
answered here.

AUTOGRAPH /PHOTOGRAPH POLICIES

  • How much do the stars charge for autographs?
The stars (or their managers) set their own prices.  Monster-Mania does not get involved in the price setting, though we strongly recommend nothing higher than $25.  Most stars charge somewhere between $10-25 for an autograph, which may or may not include a B&W or Color photo.

  • Do the stars charge to have their photograph taken with you?
The proper convention etiquette is to buy an autograph from a star that you want a photo taken of.  The Monster-Mania Con promoters feel that it is unreasonable for a star to charge you to take a photo of them once you have purchased an autograph from that star, therefore we do not permit stars to charge in this circumstance.  If you just want a photo of the star without making a purchase from them, we do not prevent them from charging for the photo.  Keep in mind that some stars just may not want their photo taken and we obviously do not force them to do so.

  • What is your photo policy  of major stars at the show?
For the big name guests that have the longest lines of fans waiting to see them,
we limit the photography to pictures OF the stars but not POSED PHOTOS WITH THE STARS.  We do this because of the long lines of people waiting to meet the star and because of the excessive amount of time it takes for the star to stop what he or she is doing and wait for the fan to come behind the table and then wait for the fan's friend to learn how to work the fan's camera (taking the lens cap off usually helps).  This whole process repeated over and over and over costs a lot of time and could wind up causing people at the back of the line (who have been waiting patiently) to miss their chance of meeting the star.  To be fair to everyone who wants to meet the star, we limit photography to NON-POSED shots of the star at their table.  It's just as easy to take a photo of the star and you while they are signing your item, you and the star are still in the same photo and the people waiting patiently at the back of the line still get their opportunity to see the star, so everyone is happy.
On that note, fans need to do their part and have the camera ready, take the lens cap off, and educate your friend how to use your camera ahead of time, so that when it's time to take your photo with the star, the process goes smoothly.
Another thing you may want to consider if you feel that life is just not worth living if you don't have a posed photo of you and the star is attending our Thursday night Pre-Show Party, where many of the stars pose for photos with the fans.  That is often the best opportunity to get posed shots with the major stars.

  • Do I need a voucher to get Robert Englund's Autograph?
    No, don't even go there...

  • Will you guys EVER do a Dawn Of The Dead Reunion?
    Not in my lifetime, Dom.

  • You advertised a star and now he's not coming.  Are you guys using false advertising?
NO.  When we list a guest, that guest has indeed agreed to attend our show.  Sometimes a guest needs to cancel his/her appearance due to personal or professional reasons, totally beyond the control of the promoter.  We hate the cancellations just as much as you do, maybe more.

  • If a star cancels will sending you a nasty email help?
No, like I said, we hate the cancellations as much as you do.

  • How do your autograph lines work?  I stubbed my toe so I am temporarily handicapped.  Can this get me to the head of the autograph line?
Nope.  We treat all fans fairly and in doing so, a first come, first served policy is in place.  If there is someone you really want to see at the show, plan accordingly.  Buy your tickets in advance and arrive at the hotel early.  Planning on your part is key.  Getting in line one hour before the show is due to close and expecting to get one of the headlining star's autographs is not wise.

  • But that's not fair!  My stubbed toe really hurts!  Can't I get ahead of everyone else?
Not without asking all of them first.  Remember, they were waiting in line while you were having breakfast.

  • I can't make it to the show.  If I send you the money, can you get the autographs for me?
No.  We're just too busy to start a mail order autograph business.  Most of the fun of getting an autograph is meeting the star in person.  If you really need an autograph, try to find someone trustworthy who is going to the show.

TICKET POLICIES

  • Where can I buy tickets?
Tickets can be purchased online and also at our ADVANCE TICKET
    LOCATIONS.

  • Are the tickets cheaper if I buy ahead of time?
YES.  Tickets purchased ahead of time are cheaper than tickets purchased at the show.

  • Are the tickets exchangeable or refundable?
NO.  Like all event ticket purchases, Monster-Mania tickets are Non-Refundable/Non-Exchangeable, same as if you purchased tickets to a concert.
Please be sure of exactly what you want when making a ticket purchase.

  • If the star that I'm coming to see cancels his appearance, can I get a ticket refund?
No.  Please be aware that the stars may have to cancel for one reason or another, beyond the promoter's control.  Don't purchase an advance ticket solely for the reason of meeting one person, buy a ticket for the entire convention experience.

  • If I don't feel good the morning of the show and decide not to come, are my
    tickets refundable?
    No.

  • I bought tickets online yesterday and they didn't come in the mail today.  What's taking you guys so long?
Please be patient with your ticket purchases.  We mail out tickets starting approximately 2 months ahead of the show then we mail out once a week until just before the show.  If you do not receive your tickets 14 days ahead of the show, please email us.

  • What are these Pre-Show tickets?
Pre-Show tickets are tickets that allow you into the DEALERS ROOM one hour ahead of the show on Friday and Saturday.  Lots of fans like to get that extra jump on everyone and hit the dealers' room early, hoping to grab that one of a kind item that won't last long on the shelf.

  • Can I use Pre-Show tickets to sneak to the head of the autograph line of the major star at the event?
    NOPE.

  • Okay, it's been TWO days now and still no tickets!  What gives?
Please be patient with your ticket purchases.  We mail out tickets starting approximately 2 months ahead of the show then we mail out once a week until just before the show.  If you do not receive your tickets 14 days ahead of the show, please email us.

GENERAL QUESTIONS

  • Do you guys take guest suggestions?
    Definitely.  Email them to dhag@comcast.net

  • I wrote you an email requesting Bruce Campbell (I bet I'm the first to think of him as a guest!) and you didn't respond.  What gives?  By the way, it's been 3 days now and still no tickets.
While we read all guest suggestions made, the overwhelming amount of emails prohibit us from answering each and every one.  Rest assured, every guest suggestion we get is considered.

  • How can I find out more about the show?
The best place to keep in touch with us and other fans of the show is by joining our Bulletin Board, where we update everyone with what is going on and keep in touch with all our friends.

  • My three friends and I have just made a film with our camcorders in our back yard.  Can you show it at the Con?
No, I'm sorry, film times are very limited and we limit the films shown to major films that feature our guest stars.  There are plenty of amateur film festivals for that sort of thing.

  • I want to be a vendor at the show, selling my independent film videos.  Can I be listed as a guest on the guest page of the website?
No, I'm sorry, the guest page is reserved for the famous film stars at the show.  I know that some
other cons pad out their guest lists with vendors from their show but we really don't do that.

  • I am bringing one of the stars of our independent films.  Can she be added to the guest list on the website?
No, I'm sorry.  Again,  the guest page is reserved for the famous film stars at the show.

  • But she's Hott!
Well, in that case.... still no.

  • Can I bring my video recorder in and record everything?
You can bring your video camera to the show and record in the dealers room and in the stars room but PLEASE get the star's permission before you start recording.  VIDEO RECORDING IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED IN ANY AND ALL OF THE SPECIAL EVENTS AND Q&A SESSIONS.

  • Can I record the reunion events and post them on a website?
    No, absolutely not.

  •  I just ordered my hotel room.  Does that get me into the show for free and get me all the free autographs I want? (we really received this question!)
No, I'm sorry, all that gets you is your hotel room.

  • The hotel always seems to sell out quickly.  When do you recommend reserving our room?
I strongly recommend reserving your room as soon as you see us list them as available on the website.  The shows have been very well received and we seem to be getting more and more fans at the show, so the host hotel does sell out quickly.  We usually make deals with other local hotels and some offer shuttle service to the convention hotel.

  • Does the Crowne Plaza have a MAC machine?
YES, but it seems to run out of money quickly over the weekend.  There are other MAC machines within walking distance of the hotel on Route 70.
